We're excited to have you as part of our English Language Development (ELD) family. To make sure you have a smooth start, we've put together some easy steps for you.
Step 1: Your assessment
We've figured out the best classes for you based on how you read, write, listen, and speak. This means you'll be in classes that fit your language skills perfectly.
Step 2: Signing up for classes
Here's what you need to do:
- Fill out the Adult Upgrading Grant (AUG) form and send it to AUGfunding@camosun.ca or visit Financial Aid in person at Liz Ashton Campus Centre, Interurban.
- Apply to Camosun College through Education Planner BC.
- Pay these fees if you are not eligible for the Adult Upgrading Grant (AUG):
- $175 for the Registration Deposit (pay this before you sign up for classes each term). You can use a credit card on myCamosun → Student Finance.
- $100 (approximately) for the remaining Student Fees (you pay this every term). Use online banking to do this a few weeks before classes begin.
- $294 for the Student Benefits Plan (this covers you for a whole year, but you can say no if you already have extended health and dental coverage). Use online banking to pay this a few weeks before classes begin.
- If your classes are ELD 010-054, register at my.camosun.ca or email eldregistration@camosun.ca. Tip: The first time logging in to myCamosun, the password is your birthdate (MMDDYY).
- For other classes, register at my.camosun.ca or get in touch with registration@camosun.ca.
Step 3: After you're in classes
Once you're all set with your classes, here's what comes next:
- If you're getting AUG funding, take your registration receipt and a photo ID to the Camosun Bookstore to get your books.
- Buy your textbooks (they usually cost around $75 to $150) at the Camosun Bookstore - Liz Ashton Campus Centre at the Interurban campus or Fisher Building first floor at the Lansdowne campus.
- Get your student ID card by filling out a form at the Camosun Library.
- Get your bus pass. Get your code and use it with the Umo bus pass App or card.
- If you want to, you can opt-out of the CCSS Health & Dental Plan by going to Room 111, Liz Ashton Campus Centre, Interurban.
