School of Health and Human Services

Delivering quality education for caring professionals

We are dedicated to preparing you for a career in health care, outreach, and community engagement. Our students lead by example and with perseverance. We offer transfer opportunities for certificate and diploma programs, a Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing as well as professional education courses and programs.

Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the School of Health and Human Services!

We are a diverse school offering programs that are relevant at this time: Nursing, Allied Health, Dental, Mental Health and Addictions, Community Support and Early Learning and Care. Check out a complete list of all the School of Health and Human Services programs.

All programs have a practical component where clinical and service skills are honed and students learn about social justice, equity and the factors that influence health in order to understand the whole person and the society in which we live. Guided by Camosun’s Indigenous educators, we ensure that indigenous ways of knowing and being are reflected in the learning and we work with them for reconciliation. Graduates go on to build healthy communities wherever they are employed.

We strengthen students' abilities to work in a team based environment by teaching leadership, communications, conflict resolution and collaboration through a variety of inter-disciplinary opportunities. Due to COVID-19 most learning is taking place online however it is imperative you obtain the skills and knowledge through applied learning in labs, clinics and by working closely with our partners, through practice in the field. These opportunities will occur in small groups and with appropriate PPE following the Provincial Health Officer and WorkSafe BC Guidelines. With the opening of the Alex & Jo Campbell Centre for Health and Wellness (CHW) and the applied learning spaces and simulated settings, the school is able to offer even more learner-centred, interdisciplinary and holistic education opportunities integrated with the community to meet their needs.

We welcome students of all ages and backgrounds and strive to make each student feel supported in their learning experiences. You’ve made a wise choice to study at Camosun College. I wish you well and hope to meet you while you are studying in our school.
