Camosun expresses its sorrow and stands alongside the Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc

Camosun College is horrified by the news that the remains of 215 children have been found in the grounds of the former Kamloops Residential School, which sat on the traditional territory of the Tk’emlúps te Secwepemc. Our hearts go out to the families and communities who were and are directly affected by this news and by the original loss of their children. We are all affected. This affirms Camosun’s commitment to redressing the impact of our shared history. In memory of these children, Camosun flags on both campuses will be lowered.

Enrol your child

Enrolment in Camosun's on-campus child care services is a multi-step process including a waitlist application, parent tour and orientation.

Our spaces are always full so we take applications to our waitlist on a daily basis. On an annual basis, we have between 200-250 applicants added to this list. Once you apply, we confirm your addition to the waitlist via email within a week of your application providing you with an outline of our process for filling available spaces and your child's waitlist number. We only call families when a space becomes available. Additionally, it is your responsibility to notify us of any change in personal information and the requested date of enrolment so that your waitlist application is always current.

While Camosun students are our first priority, we welcome children of staff, faculty and the community. A child may be added to the list once their birth date is known.

Length of Waitlist

At any given time, it is difficult to know the length of the waitlist because of the changing needs of applicants who are not providing our office with an update. Please call our office for more info.

Offer of a Space

Families are offered a space, in the appropriate age group, according to the prioritization listed below and their date of application to the waitlist. A child remains on the waitlist until the enrolling parent withdraws their name or the parent can no longer be reached.

Waitlist Prioritization

  1. Internal Transfers
Children already enrolled who are ready (age and development) to graduate to the next centre.
  2. Siblings
Children on the waitlist whose sibling is already enrolled, and who have been on our waitlist for 6 months or more.
  3. Students’ Children
Based on age and application date.
  4. Faculty/Staff Children
Based on age and application date.
  5. Community Children
Based on age and application date.

Please note: It's your responsibility to notify us of any change in personal information and requested date of enrolment so that your waitlist application is always current. You may contact us at or 250-370-4880.

Parent Tour

When a family is offered a space and is interested in accepting the space, they will be invited to attend a Parent Tour in the centre. The Parent Tour will give the parent(s) the opportunity to see the centre, meet the staff, and ask any questions. Families accepting the space will be required to sign our Parent Agreement, pay the Enrolment Deposit, and provide pre-authorized monthly payments for the operational year a deposit of the first month’s fees.

As children do not attend the Parent Tour, arrangements can be made for an orientation visit to the centre with their parent(s) prior to their start date.
