Community, retired Camosun employees, and alumni

A free Community Borrower card is available to those who reside in the college's service area and for retired Camosun employees or alumni.

A card will be issued upon presentation of appropriate photo identification with address verification. Cards must be renewed each year.

Reference material, newspapers, course reserves, and kits cannot be borrowed.

Borrowing reminders

  • You are responsible for all materials borrowed including any charges on items that are overdue, lost, or damaged.
  • Borrowing privileges will be suspended when items are long overdue and/or when library charges reach the following:
    • students: $100 or more (course registration and transcripts may also be withheld)
    • Camosun employees: $50 or more
    • community, retired Camosun employees & alumni: $10 or more
  • Library notices are sent by email. It is your responsibility to ensure the college has your email address.
  • Students & Camosun employees present their Camosun ID to borrow materials.
  • Community members, retired employees and alumni must sign up for a Community Borrower card and present this card when borrowing items.

Renewals

Check loan periods and limits to find out what can and cannot be renewed. Library items cannot be renewed if a hold has been placed by another person.

Non-reserve books, DVD's, and journals will renew automatically if there are no holds on the item. You will receive an email with the new due date.

Renew eligible items in-person at the library or by logging in to your library account.

Returning Material

Regular loaned books, journals, and magazines can be returned to either library:             

  • drop box located outside of the building – open 24 hours
  • drop box located inside the library – open during library hours

Course reserves must be returned:

  • to the library it was borrowed from
  • to the basket located at the library services desk

Headphones, laptops, calculators, and kits must be returned:

  • in-person at the library services desk

Please return materials in the same condition you borrowed them.

Holds

Place holds through the library catalogue. We will notify you when items are available.

Holds are not permitted on course reserves, headphones, laptops or kits.
