To help create accessible career pathways as identified in the Government of B.C.’s Health Human Resources Strategy, the priority program student recruitment & retention bursary offers students grants to students in specific health care programs as identified by the Ministry of Health and Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills.
Students in the Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant (CMLA) program can receive a maximum of $2,000.
Students in the Medical Radiography Diploma (MRAD) program can receive a maximum of $4,000.
Criteria
Criteria
Applicants must be:
- Year 1, Certified Medical Laboratory Assistant, Certificate (CMLA) students enrolling between September 1, 2023, through to October 1, 2025.
- Year 1 or Year 2 Medical Radiography Diploma (MRAD) students enrolling between September 1, 2023, through to October 1, 2025.
- Canadian Citizens and Permanent Residents
- Students whose tuition is already being paid by a third party (employer, other government program, etc.) are not eligible for the Student Recruitment and Retention Bursary

Selection process
Applications are not required and funds will automatically be credited to myCamosun accounts for students that meet the criteria. Where a student has already paid, any surplus amounts will be refunded to the student.
T4As are issued for bursary amounts exceeding $500 which may be considered taxable income for the year the bursary was awarded. For more information, please check with the Canada Revenue Agency.
