International Students - How to Apply

It's easy to apply as an international student. Let us help you on your way. In two easy steps, you can start your education at Camosun. If you have questions about the application process please send us a message.

Step 1 - Find a program

Camosun offers a wide range of credentials to help you prepare for your career. Browse our program list.

English proficiency levels

Admission to most academic programs is based on meeting one of the following English proficiency requirements:

  • Completion of BC English 12 or English Studies 12 with a C+ or better
  • Recognized Pathway Partner Certificate
  • External Assessment

You can also apply for English upgrading at Camosun in order to meet English proficiency requirement for program admission.

External assessments

Scores must be from within the past two years. For TOEFL we require an original document from ETS to Camosun College: Destination (DI) Code: 7527

One of:

  • IELTS (Academic) score of 6.0 overall (no sub-score less than 6.0)
  • TOEFL iBT score of 78 overall (no sub-score less than 19)
  • PTE Academic score of 54 overall (no sub-score less than 50)
  • Cambridge Assessment of English: C1 Advanced score of 174 overall (no sub-score less than 169)
  • CAEL CE score of 60 overall (no sub-score less than 60)
  • GTEC CBT score of 1200 overall (minimum sub-scores: Reading 325, Writing 270, Speaking 260, Listening 335)
  • Duolingo English Test (DET) score of 105 for General Admission to most Certificate and Diploma programs, and Bachelor of Business Administration programs (exceptions: Nursing and certain other Health-related programs). Score of 115 for admission to Post-Degree programs (all majors) and Degree programs offered by Centre for Sport and Exercise Education.

Note: Applicants from countries where Student Direct Stream (SDS) is available must meet corresponding SDS criteria in addition to Camosun admission requirements.

Step 2 - Apply


Applicants outside Canada

Applicants must submit their application and all supporting documents by the following deadline to be considered for admission:

  • Fall term (September) — June 30
  • Winter term (January) — October 31
  • Summer term (May) — February 28

Applicants within Canada (with a valid study permit)

Applicants must submit their application and all supporting documents by the following deadline to be considered for admission:

  • Fall term (September) — July 10
  • Winter term (January) — November 10
  • Summer term (May) — March 10

The international student application process consists of two parts:

You must apply online through EducationPlannerBC first.

Application vs. Admission

Submission of an application does not guarantee admission to a program or course. Seat offers in programs and courses are subject to seat availability. Some programs may have a waitlist.

Program Change

Program change requests may be considered subject to the availability of seats and meeting respective admission requirements. Not all programs may have seats available. Popular programs may have long waitlists.

Preliminary Assessment

If you are not sure whether you meet the admission requirements for international students, consider skipping the EducationPlannerBC step and submitting supporting documents only with a request for unofficial evaluation (free of charge).

Part Two: Supporting documents

Submit supporting documents in English. Where appropriate, please provide English translations of all documents (transcripts and credentials) for all education completed and indicated in the application form. Documents submitted become the property of Camosun College and will not be returned.

Tips for completing your application

  • Submit legible copies of supporting documents.
  • Scans of official documents are acceptable at this stage. Official, sealed transcripts from all institutions attended must be received by Camosun College prior to starting classes.
  • Type all information. We will not accept handwritten forms.
  • Sign the applicable forms in handwriting. The student’s signature MUST match the signature on the passport.
  • Scan all relevant supporting documents and email them to

  • This is a fillable 2-page PDF form. Download the form, fill it in electronically and sign in handwriting (both pages).
  • The student’s signatures on the form must match the signature on the passport.

  • One of the external assessments (above)
  • Recognized Pathway Partner Certificate
  • BC English 12, English Studies 12 or equivalent.

  1. Transcripts and credentials - Mandatory, varies by program

  • High school transcripts, proof of high school graduation (mandatory for most programs) and official, notarized English translations
  • Post-secondary transcripts and credentials (if applicable) and official, notarized English translations. Include all credentials, even if non-completed and/or in-progress
  1. Program-specific documents - If applicable

Your program of choice may have additional admission requirements such as proof of graduation, experience, portfolio, etc.

Use of a Camosun-authorized Education Consultant (if applicable)

Camosun works with a number of qualified education consultants abroad who provide education counselling services to international students. You can check with us if your education consultant is authorized with Camosun College.

Whether you are planning to apply to Camosun College on your own using easy step-by-step instructions above or hire a Camosun-authorized education consultant – that is entirely your choice. Camosun gives no preference to applications submitted directly or via education consultants.

  • If applicable, the appointed education consultant will receive the correspondence from Camosun International Admissions, not the applicant. Before you receive an Official Letter of Acceptance, if you have any questions, please connect with your appointed education consultant.
