Award description

The Princess Auto Foundation (PAF) is committed to enhancing education and providing opportunities to students in the areas of trades & technology and believes strongly in providing funding to students who may not otherwise be able to attend college due to their financial circumstances. The PAF is pleased to support eligible Camosun students through the provision of a maximum of seven $5,000 bursaries, two for technology students and five for trades students. The annual availability of this award may vary, depending on funds received from the donor.

Criteria

  • Be enrolled or planning to enroll, full-time, in the upcoming Fall semester into a Camosun College Technology Certificate or Diploma program offered by the School of Trades & Technology. (Students enrolled in Engineering Transfer, Access and Bridge programs are not eligible)
  • Be able to demonstrate significant financial need.
  • Be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident.

Application process

Selection process

Complete and submit the online application no later than August 1, and include a one-page letter of intention. Your letter of intention should:

  • Describe why you are interested in your program and what your future career goals are.
  • Outline your past work and educational experiences.
  • Speak to any past or current significant personal or financial barriers or challenges.

Additional Information

  • Online application will be available until August 1. Completed applications and all supporting documentation must be received by this date.  Late, incomplete, or printed applications will not be accepted.
  • Successful recipients will be notified by email no later than October 1.
  • Adjudication of this bursary will be managed by Financial Aid & Awards. All decisions are final.
  • Students will not normally receive more than one entrance bursary.
  • Entrance bursaries cannot be deferred to a future semester or year.
  • Funds will be applied directly to the student account. If tuition and fees have already been paid, any residual bursary amounts will be refunded to the student.
  • Students receiving Persons with Disabilities or Income Assistance should speak with Financial Aid & Awards and their Ministry case worker to discuss how bursary funds may impact their government assistance.
  • Bursary funds are considered income. A statement for income tax purposes will be sent to recipients by Camosun.
  • Bursary recipients are encouraged to write a thank you letter to the donor; thank you letters can be submitted to Financial Aid & Awards at either campus.
