From Sherri Bell, President

The revealing by the Penelakut Tribe of 160+ undocumented and unmarked graves on the grounds of the former Kuper Island Industrial School and foreshore deepens the pain of all Indigenous peoples.

Testimonials

Harrison Gros, on the path to a Mental Health and Addictions certificate

Before the BEST program, I found myself at a crossroads. I was unhappy with my work and my level of education—yet unmotivated to change either. Trying to figure out, by myself, the next steps and the opportunities seemed overwhelming.

The structured environment, guidance, and overall experience of the BEST program—as well as the understanding and unwavering support of the instructional team—allowed me to find that path I needed, and to create opportunities that simply would not have happened without this program.
The biggest "Aha!" moment for me was the realization that, if I could focus on doing small things well, the big picture becomes so much easier to manage.

This program is perfect for anyone, of any age, looking to transition from one career or educational pathway to another…or looking for a sense of direction/purpose and needing a motivational helping hand…or anyone who wants to take a good, honest look at themselves and take charge of their future.

I cannot sing the praises of this program enough; it did incredible things for me, and I know that it can do the same for anyone who wants to put in the (very manageable amount of) work. Highly recommend!

Derrick Thompson, on the path to enrolling in English and computer programs at Camosun

The Building Employment Success for Tomorrow (BEST) program at Camosun college has been an interactive and engaging course. I will be able to formulate positive, crafted goals after learning the strategies from the BEST program.

BEST taught me about celebrating your accomplishments and taking small steps for achieving success and living. “SMART” goals that are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-based are just a few of the lessons that I have learned during this course.

The teachers and counselors were very supportive, acknowledged everyone, and stipulated the importance of life-long learning and bettering of oneself. I truthfully recommend this course to every student, and to anyone wanting to build good relationships with people.
