Transfer to Camosun as an International Student

Are you transferring to Camosun from another institution? We're here to help you through the process. This page contains important information for international students coming from other post-secondary institutions.

Important information

New study permit required when changing post-secondary schools

As of November 8, 2024, you must be enrolled in the designated learning institution (DLI) named on your study permit. To change your DLI to Camosun College, you need to get a new study permit by applying to extend your current one.
For complete details on these changes, please visit the Government of Canada website.

Post-graduation work permit (PGWP) considerations

Important: Transferring credits may affect your PGWP eligibility and duration.

Many students come to Camosun with previous college or university coursework that might qualify for Camosun credit. However, be aware that transferring these credits could impact your PGWP eligibility.

For current details, visit the Government of Canada website.

How transfer credit works at Camosun

If you have completed coursework at another college or university, you may be able to transfer some of your credits to Camosun. This means you can complete your program faster by building on the courses you have already taken.

Important: The International Admissions department does not automatically evaluate previous coursework for Camosun College credit. If you want credit for courses completed elsewhere, you need to request this through a separate process after you have been admitted.

  • Review the Transfer Credit process, which requires a separate form, fee, official transcripts, and possibly course syllabi
  • Check with us if your Camosun program allows transfer into a later semester. Some programs only accept new international students in Year 1, Semester 1.
  • Contact International Admissions before submitting your application

Your incoming transfer options

We have three different processes depending on where you studied before. Each option has specific requirements and agreements in place.
