Committees, Bylaws & Policies

Camosun College is a public post-secondary institution. The Board of Governors administers the college on behalf of the government of BC and the Ministry of Advanced Education, Skills and Training, as legislated by the College and Institute Act.

Committees

The board has three standing committees. Only the board in its entirety can make board decisions. The committees assist the board in decision-making by bringing recommendations.

Executive committee

The executive committee makes recommendations to the board in the areas of the board's role, student appeals, policy proposals, emergency situations, and establishing ad hoc committees.

Terms of reference

Finance committee

The finance committee is responsible for significant financial planning, managing and reporting matters for the college.

The committee makes recommendations to the board in the areas of the annual operating and capital budgets, the annual financial information act requirements, and the tuition fee increases.

Audit committee

The purpose of the board audit committee is to assist the board to fulfill its financial accountability and oversight responsibilities.

Governance Policy Review Committee – Ad Hoc

An Ad Hoc committee of the Board of Governors, the Governance Policy Review Committee is responsible for reviewing the Governance Policies of the Board. The Committee will provide recommendations to the Board in the following areas: Updates and revisions to the Board Governance policies; Recommendations for new Governance policies; and Recommendations for the rescindment of Governance policies.
