National Skilled Trade and Technology Week 2024 - November 3-9

Camosun College is giving a big shout out to the amazing trades and tech students and alumni during National Skilled Trade and Technology Week (NSTTW), Nov. 3-9.

"This week is all about honouring trade and technology students and alumni. It also allows us to get high school students and young adults thinking about skilled trade and technology careers as an exciting and rewarding option,” says Eric Sehn, Dean of Trades and Technology at Camosun College. “There has never been a better time to pursue a career in trades and technology. Camosun helps students get the right jobs at the right time with state-of-the-art equipment and dedicated, experienced and skilled instructors.”

Along with its core trades and technology programs and courses, Camosun offers a number of exciting and innovative programs, including 12-week technology and trade exploration programs for women, Indigenous peoples, and a dual-credit program that allows high-school students to get explore trades and technology subjects and receive credit for post-secondary courses while still in high school. Camosun also offers the unique Engineering Bridge programs which are recognized across Canada as excellent transition programs, taking technology diploma graduates to an Engineering degree or Applied Science degree from the University of British Columbia or the University of Victoria.

NSTTW goal is to promote the many career opportunities in skilled trades and technology in Canada. Trade and technology careers are an important part of our community economy and an excellent career path. Still, many Canadians either do not know what trade careers look like or what they entail. This week is dedicated to raise awareness through insight into the career options available.
