GivingTuesday, the worldwide celebration of giving back, is on Nov. 28. This year, Camosun College is joining forces with the Camosun College Student Society and RBC Dominion Securities (Andrea White) to ensure that every student can find support when they need it by raising funds for the Erasing Barriers to Education fund.

The Camosun College Student Society and RBC Dominion Securities (Andrea White) are making a remarkable gesture, matching every dollar donated between Nov. 20 and midnight on Nov. 28, up to $20,000. This commitment doubles the scope of individual contributions, allowing each gift to create an even greater positive impact.

“We understand the urgency of supporting our students now more than ever,” says Lane Trotter, President of Camosun College. “The Erasing Barriers to Education fund acts as a lifeline for our students, bridging financial gaps and overcoming challenges that could otherwise hinder their success. With the incredible backing of the Camosun College Student Society, each donation from the community will have double the impact.”

The Erasing Barriers to Education fund breaks down hurdles that block students’ success. From food scarcity to the shadows of domestic violence, it tackles major challenges that disrupt students’ journeys.

“Every day, we hear stories of students having to make tough choices due to the rising cost of living,” adds Camosun College Student Society External Executive Jagjeet Singh. “The Student Society is dedicated to advocating for students, while ensuring access to crucial services. We're proud to support Giving Tuesday and the Erasing Barriers to Education fund, helping students in need – whatever their challenges – to not only succeed but to thrive.”

In a world where living costs burden students, the fund is a lifeline, easing financial stress and ensuring basics like food and textbooks are accessible. It's more than money; it's a compassionate hand for those facing personal hardships that affect their well-being and focus on education.

At its core, the fund embodies Camosun College’s commitment to inclusivity, providing tools for students to flourish. It shows the resolve to empower every student, regardless of challenges, and create an environment where all can thrive.

The Camosun College Foundation invites everyone to become a part of a unified effort to transform students’ lives by contributing today. Donors who make a gift to the Erasing Barriers to Education fund aren't just offering financial support; they're extending a lifeline of opportunities to determined individuals striving for success within our community.
