Sydney exceeds her goals in Interactive Media Development

The encouragement and support from her instructors got her through her self-doubt.

“As someone who has attended university, I was used to the impersonal teaching methods that made me feel more like a number than a person,” says Sydney. “From the experiences others had at Camosun College, it sounded like a community-oriented school that helps you exceed your goals.” This level of support and community became essential to Sydney’s studies as she struggled with her decision to pursue the Interactive Media Developer program.

“There were others around me with years of previous coding experience,” says Sydney. “As someone completely new to a technological program and coding altogether, I constantly felt overshadowed by the prior experience of my classmates.” It was the encouragement and support from her instructors that got her through the self-doubt. “Every instructor is motivated to help you succeed. From staying late after class to help me understand a new concept or letting me shed a couple of tears in their office, it felt as though all of my instructors were invested in my success,” says Sydney.

“You’re surrounded by people who genuinely care about your success and well-being.”
