From President Sherri Bell
As we come to the end of 2021, I want to express my heartfelt gratitude for your constant support of students and each other. Together, we have made it through another year full of challenges — from the ongoing uncertainty brought by the ever-evolving pandemic, to extreme weather with wildfires and then flooding that severely impacted many parts of British Columbia. And, now, with the arrival of the Omicron variant of COVID-19, we will continue to be vigilant.
The new measures announced on Friday, Dec. 17, by the Province are intended to slow the spread of COVID-19 and keep people safe during the holiday season. We are told that with the new variant of concern cases are expected to rapidly increase.
Throughout the pandemic, Camosun has followed the advice and guidance of the Provincial Health Officer, the BC Centre for Disease Control, the B.C. Government and Island Health public health experts and will continue to do so over the winter break. Our public-health informed approach has kept students and employees safe.
While classes are due to resume at Camosun on Jan. 10, 2022, the college is closely monitoring the ever-evolving pandemic situation and impact of the Omicron variant.
Camosun continues to plan for face-to-face delivery of programs and services in January 2022, which we have been doing safely since September 2021. Should direction change, updates will be shared as soon as possible with students and employees. Please check your email or visit camosun.ca/covid19 for the latest information.
I hope each of you have a restful and restorative break and that you are able to celebrate safely.
