Are you interested in pursuing a career in public accounting as a CPA (Chartered Professional Accountant)?  Representative from CPABC will share some helpful information about the CPA PEP program.  Plus, Camosun Co-op and Career Services will provide tips on how to build your career toolkit for the accounting profession, including networking, LinkedIn and typical CPA recruitment timelines.

Conversation with a CPA

Are you curious about what CPAs actually do?  If yes, join this short 45-minute conversation and listen to a real-life CPA, Janeen Sam, CPA, CA, Co-Founder of SamKabwe Consulting, and learn about what accountants do and where they work.  You will then have an opportunity to ask your own questions about a career in accounting.

CPAEF Bursaries and Scholarships
Every year CPAEF offers a bursary program to BC students based on financial need with two deadlines to apply each year: May 15 and November 15. Scholarships are also available to students attending one of eleven BC post-secondary institutions that do not have named awards: applications are due May 1.
Students can visit the CPAEF website for application forms.

Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) is pleased to host the following live webinars:

Post-Secondary & Financial Literacy 

Taking care of your tax and benefit affairs can pay off!  You could get a tax refund, and benefit and credit payments.  Some of the benefits and credits to which you may be eligible for are the Goods and Services Tax/Harmonized Sales Tax credit, the Disability tax credit, the Canada child benefit, and the Child disability benefit.

Scam Awareness - Be Scam Smart

Help protect yourself and others against fraud - taxpayers should be vigilant when they receive, either by telephone, mail, text message or email, a fraudulent communication that claims to be from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) requesting personal information such as a social insurance number, credit card number, bank account number or passport number.  Learn to recognize the common types of scams and to identify legitimate communications from the CRA.
