Camosun’s 2016 Grad Ceremonies - biggest ever
More than 3,500 grads and guests attended Camosun’s 2016 Graduation Ceremonies on June 16 and 17 at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence, Interurban Campus. “This year’s ceremonies were so uplifting and the most successful yet,” said Joan Yates, VP of Student Experience. Students graduated from certificate, diploma and bachelor degree programs in Access, Indigenous Education, Arts and Science, Business, Health and Human Services, Trades, Technologies, and Sport Education.
Four major awards highlighted the two days of ceremonies, including:
- Board of Governors Award for Innovation, awarded to two teams of students and staff in the Centre for Sport and Exercise Education for: The Athletic and Exercise Therapy Clinic; and the Diabetes and Exercise Education Project.
- Governor General’s Collegiate Bronze Academic Medal, awarded to Braiden Kirkland, top academic student graduating from the Mechanical Engineering Technology program.
- Camosun College Distinguished Alumni Award, awarded to Clayton Stark, a 1993 graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Technology program and local tech industry leader and senior vice president of gaming company, KIXEYE Canada.
- Promising Alumni Award, awarded to Jessica Cruise, a 2008 graduate of Camosun’s Golf Management programs and self-made CEO of her own fitness franchise, Vibes Fitness Inc.
Over 3,480 individual students received credentials from the college this year. “We are so proud of our 2016 outstanding graduates and award recipients,” added Yates. “Thank you as well to our Grad Committee for their incredible work in making this year’s celebrations flow so smoothly.” Read more...
