The library is responsible for issuing every student, faculty and staff member with a Camosun ID.
Camosun students, faculty and staff are issued a college identification card with a photograph. The ID card will be issued upon presentation of appropriate government issued photo identification such as:
- Driver’s licence
- BC Identification
- Canadian Citizenship Card
- Permanent Resident Card
- Secure Certificate of Indian Status
This is your official student or employee identification card as well as your library card, BC Transit UPass (registered students), and lab entry key (Interurban).
This card remains the property of Camosun College. The card is non-transferable and can only be used by the person named and pictured on the card.
New cards are issued at both campus libraries, during library open hours.
Bus Pass (U-Pass)
Your BC Transit bus pass—the U-Pass—must be validated each term. The earliest you can validate a card is one week before your first class. The U-Pass is then valid until the last day of the month of your classes or exams end. U-Passes that are active in December expire on January 12th.
U-Passes can be updated at the library during open hours.
You must keep your card for one year. Report lost or stolen cards. A $15 fee is charged for lost or damaged cards.
Report fraudulent use of a card to library staff or College Safety.
To receive student discounts from participating businesses, you may need your student card and proof of registration (on paper or your smart phone).
Privacy and personal information
The college takes a digital photo to create your college identification card. The following personal information is collected from the college’s Colleague system in order to make the card: legal name; date of birth, affiliation with the college, “C” number and where appropriate, U-Pass expiry date.
Personal information collected and used is for the purpose of producing the official personal identification (ID) card for Camosun College. Information on the ID card will be used to verify your identity and for the purpose of administering college services, programs, and activities.
Individuals who obtain a Camosun College ID acknowledge the above and consent to the collection of personal information, including digital images, used to produce the card. Your digital photograph will be printed on the front of your Campus Card and will be stored in the college database. Photos collected are proprietary and are kept secure and confidential.
Your personal information is collected in accordance with the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA) and college policy. All photos collected are Camosun College property. Outside parties are not granted access to personal or account information except where express consent is granted or the college is complying with College Safety, or as authorized by law.
Questions regarding the collection and use of your personal information for college ID should be directed to the Director of Learning Services.
