Parents and Supporters

We know that beginning a post-secondary education is a big step, not just for students but also for their families and supporters. On this page, you will find a variety of information to help you navigate your new role as a supporter of a Camosun student.

Welcome Information

Welcome, parents and supporters of Camosun College students! Camosun College is located in beautiful Victoria, British Columbia with campuses on the Traditional Territories of the Lkwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. We acknowledge their welcome and graciousness to the students who seek knowledge here. The College gets its name from the Lkwungen word, Camosun, referencing an area of Victoria where different waters meet and are transformed. As a community, we are committed to learning, working, and playing on these lands with a good heart, good mind, and good thoughts.

Orientation & Transitions

Your student may be feeling excited, nervous, or a mix of the two about beginning their time at Camosun College, all of which are normal! Transitioning to a new school, new community or even a new country brings change and new opportunities. As your student prepares for post-secondary education, encourage them to check out the Orientation & Transitions website for key information on Welcome Week (a great way to get acquainted with campus!) and International Student Orientation. Indigenous students also can connect with an advisor from Eyēʔ Sqȃ’lewen Centre for Indigenous Education and Community Connections for a campus orientation.

Enrolment Support

You might also be wondering about Tuition and Fees, and it can be helpful to encourage your student to write down important dates for tuition deadlines. Take the time to review important dates for information about holiday closures and exam periods. If you have questions about scholarships and funding, don’t hesitate to review the Financial Aid & Awards webpage. Registration can help if your student isn't sure how to register for classes or needs assistance accessing their myCamosun account. Check out Parents and Families for additional enrolment support information.

Housing

Please note that Camosun College does not have student residences. Most Camosun students live in a rented apartment, condo, basement suite, or room in a shared house. Students are responsible for finding their own accommodation. Review the Housing webpage for advice and further information.

Student Privacy

If you need to check in, your student is the best source of information. The college is legally obligated to ensure students' privacy, and as a result, we are unable to share or speak to students' records or experiences with parents and supporters. Students wishing to share access to their myCamosun can do so by designating an individual as a proxy. Instructions can be found on the Proxy Access webpage. Please note the college supports and services respond to student communication only.
