Yoga for the Nervous System

If you live with chronic anxiety, your nervous system is operating in overdrive. This means your body has a heightened reaction to perceived threat, leading to anxiety responses such as agitation, stress, and heart palpitations. Once anxiety settles in, it can be difficult to self-soothe and regain balance. To mitigate the effects of an overactive nervous system, it is important to adopt strategies to promote relaxation and calm.

Yoga for the Nervous System series explores the mind-body mechanisms and methods utilized for stress management and anxiety reduction to regulate the nervous system.

This is for you if you want to help yourself to:

  • Reduce anxiety and manage stress
  • Learn how to self-soothe and settle your nervous system
  • Feel more connected to your body and feeling states

These sessions apply polyvagal theory for a therapeutic experience that nourishes the nervous system and brings balance to our rhythms of regulation. A variety of embodiment and yoga practices are offered to help you reconnect with your body, regulate your nervous system and develop a felt sense of resilience to stress and anxiety. Practices are gentle and accessible for all, offering mat practices adaptable for the chair.
