Camosun Chargers volleyball athletes PACWEST all-stars

The Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) named the volleyball all-stars for the 2022-23 season which included 10 Camosun Chargers.

For the second consecutive year, Brendan Folkerts (Winnipeg, MB/MBCI) was named to the First All-Star Team along with outside hitter Eduardo Bida (Uberlandia, Brazil/Colegio Gabarito).

Kris La Guardia (Vancouver, BC/Vancouver College) and Lucas Maffia (Victoria, BC/Oak High High) were named to the Second All-Star team and Tristan Cumming (Victoria, BC/Reynolds Secondary) to the All-Rookie Team.

On the women’s side, Erica Bolink (Victoria, BC/Pacific Christian) picked up First All-Star Team recognition, Hannah May (Victoria, BC/Belmont Secondary) and Rilyn Boorman (Red Deer, AB/ Hunting Hills High) were named Second Team All-Star’s, and Boorman and Avery Hansen (Red Deer, AB/Lindsay Thurber) to the All-Rookie Team.

Corriena McNeice (Terrace, BC/Caledonia Senior Secondary) was named Top Libero’s, and Bida Top Outside Hitter.

The Chargers volleyball teams start their play for PACWEST gold on Friday, Feb. 24 in Cranbrook. The men look to defend their title as they take on the Douglas Royals at 2pm PT, while the women look to improve on last year’s bronze medal finish when they also match up against the Royals at 12:00pm PT. Winners of both matches advance to the gold medal game, where the loser plays for bronze.

All championship games can be streamed on PACWEST TV.

The Camosun Chargers Athletics Program currently fields teams in basketball and volleyball. Since joining the CCAA and Pacific West Athletic Association (PACWEST) conferences in 1994, the Chargers have competed in over 100 national and provincial championships with over 50 medal winning finishes.
