Department Chair Counselling

Liisa Robinson

I have been a visitor on Lkwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ territories since the early 90’s when I moved from Blackfoot territory to attend UVic. I’ve been a member of the counselling team since 2010.

I see the relationship between counsellor and client as an important part of the work we do together. I aspire to create a space for our work where challenge, authenticity, and humour are welcome. The approaches that I use recognize that people are highly interconnected beings, both internally (body, mind, emotions and spirit) and externally (to our families, history, culture, and systems). I work to see the world through a social justice lens and I hope that carries over to my counselling work. I’ve trained as a yoga and meditation teacher and have completed training in DBT (Dialectical Behaviour Therapy).

I am also the counsellor who is connected to the Chargers Athletics program.

A perfect day off in my books includes a meditation, a cup of wickedly strong coffee, a hike or a run with friends (sun and mud are equally welcome!) and leisurely cooking a great (and spicy!) meal.
