Born and raised on Newfoundland's West Coast, Cindy gradually made her way across the country to Victoria. At every stop through the country, Cindy taught piano lessons. Many of her hundreds of students have gone on to win music festival awards, and have had songwriting, performing, and recording careers.

A keen advocate of lifelong learning, Cindy earned a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature from the University of Calgary in 2009, a Master of Arts in Teaching English Literature and Composition from the University of Victoria in 2011, and a Master of Education in Post-Secondary Curriculum and Instruction in 2017. There are yet more educational aspirations in her future.

Cindy joined Camosun College in 2012, and is the co-founder and provincial chair of the BC Apprenticeship Administrators' Committee. In her "spare time," Cindy enjoys gardening and travelling with her husband, and is a connoisseur of fine coffee and chocolate.
