School of Business

Karen has been with Camosun College in various capacities for 31 years. She began her career in Continuing Education where she developed adult learning opportunities in Management and Leadership for individuals and organizations.  It is through this work that she gravitated to Human Resources. For fifteen years, she worked with HR and Training Managers in large, medium and small organizations around Victoria, coordinating, offering and evaluating workplace training opportunities in the area of Leadership Development.  Some of the employers that she worked with were the City of Victoria, District of Saanich, Township of Esquimalt, Thrifty Foods, Monk Office Supply, Archipelago Marine Research and several of the provincial ministries.

Karen left that position in December of 2006 to move into her current role of a full time instructor in the School of Business where she currently teaches courses in Leadership, Management and Human Resources.

For formal education, Karen’s passion for leadership, learning and people in organizations led her to Royal Roads to complete the MA in Leadership and Training in 2002.  She is also a member of CPHR BC & Y.

In addition to teaching several upper-level classes in the HR program, Karen also actively participates in coaching and supporting students teams to represent Camosun College in Case Competitions, including the annual HRC West competition.
