Laurie Elmquist has had short stories, poetry and memoir published in literary journals and anthologies. Her illustrated books for children include Beach Baby (2016) and Forest Baby (2018). She recently launched Where’s Burgess? (2018), the first book in a series for children ages 7-9, illustrated by David Parkins and published by Orca Book Publishers. Laurie has been teaching creative writing for many years at Camosun and she believes in the flexibility of online delivery to reach students who would not otherwise be able to study creative writing. Whether she’s teaching creative writing or composition, her main goal is to help students establish a writing practice that will serve them well throughout their writing life.
