Kathie has been teaching at the School of Business since 2008. She has her PhD in Accounting and Finance through the University of Newcastle upon Tyne where she focused on gender issues within the accounting profession. Kathie also has an MBA from Laurentian and a Master in Education (Distance) from Athabasca.

With more than two decades of tax and accounting experience, spanning both provincial and federal government agencies as well as accounting public practice, she brings real-world knowledge and experience to the classroom.

Kathie is a frequent volunteer with CPA teaching financial literacy programs and assisting with the community volunteer income tax program. Previously she was a member of the ambassadors to the Women’s Leadership Council. When not teaching at Camosun,

Kathie can often be found riding her motorcycle, ballroom dancing or working on genealogy. She enjoys travelling with her family and plans trips every year. As well as visiting several countries, they have taken their RV to 49 states, 10 provinces and the Yukon territory.
