Sewailu Auzins

Sewailu has studied and practiced yoga for over 20 years and is a certified teacher of a therapeutic style of Hatha Yoga. She is completing her Yoga Therapist training through Ajna Yoga College. As a therapeutic yoga teacher she believes yoga should be made accessible for people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds.

Sewailu brings many options and variations to each class so that beginners or those with limitations or injuries feel comfortable and safe while building strength and structural support, as well as learning tools to manage stress or discomfort.

Therapeutic yoga classes are gentle and allow time for building awareness, so you can learn how to best support your body. Sewailu is especially interested in helping people maintain strength and mobility as they age and counteracting the ill effects of sitting.

Laura Benson

Laura Benson

A certified Hatha Yoga Teacher (Moksana Yoga Centre, Victoria, BC) and member of the Hatha Yoga Association of Victoria, Laura began her yoga journey in 1999. Through the years it has helped her gain connection between mind, body and spirit. She believes yoga is a whole-being wellness tradition that develops personal growth through the yogic principles.

As a class guide, Laura honours the teacher in everyone and encourages a safe, supportive and accepting environment. She weaves yogic philosophy into the practice, taking it beyond the physical while inviting curiosity in movement, alignment and sensations. Laura provides modifications for all body types and skill levels while encouraging a gentle approach to strengthen the body and focus the mind.

Laura is focused on sharing the benefits of this ancient science to cultivate mindfulness, awareness and overall wellbeing, in order for these benefits to follow the practitioner into every aspect of their life.

Tersia Fagan

Tersia Fagan

Tersia is a certified Hatha yoga instructor, who was trained right here in Victoria and has taught yoga for several years in many different communities.

Practicing yoga with Tersia is a unique and supportive experience. Her teaching style is grounded in Hatha yoga and infused with Kundalini yoga techniques. Tersia is particularly interested in the collective energy and the interplay it has with one's individual experience of yoga.

"Each time we approach the mat, we are different, so each practice offers a unique experience. And when we practice together in community, our energy is harmonized and amplified".

Danny Harris

Danny Harris

Danny was born in Victoria BC, and has been in the fitness industry for over 5 years helping people achieve their personal fitness goals. He is very passionate about helping people improve their health!

His education and professional background has provided him with extensive knowledge and experience. Danny is a certified personal trainer, has a degree in Recreation & Health, and has experience working as a fitness trainer for the Canadian Forces. In addition, Danny has trained at the Pacific Institute of Sports Excellence and has been a consultant to various television shows. Through these opportunities he has been able to excel in a broad range of fitness disciplines.

Danny believes first and foremost exercise should be safe. A close second is that exercise should bring results, and last but certainly not least, exercise should be fun... well... fun-ish. "The most common reasons for people giving up on exercising are injury, lack of results, and boring workouts."

Jenna Howe

Jenna Howe

After graduating from George Brown Colleges' Fitness and Lifestyle Management Program in 1995 Jenna has been educating and training in many areas of fitness and health. While personal training in private practice, Jenna also taught for the Police Foundations Program at Fleming College for several years. During her time at the Peterborough Sport and Wellness Centre, Jenna brought Zumba Fitness to the city, developed Cancer Recovery Programs and worked with individuals both in and out of the pool for rehabilitative purposes.

Jenna has since has received her degree in Psychology and completed the Yoga Therapy program at Pacific Rim College. When she isn't personal training, Jenna teaches Zumba, Groove, and Bellyfit classes along with provides therapeutic services for sports injuries, postural imbalances and general health and well-being.

Yamini Iyer

Yamini has a great passion for dance and in particular, Bollywood. She has been dancing since the age of 5 and has performed different kinds of Bollywood Fusion dances. She has performed in different events such as fundraisers, cultural events and private functions. Bollywood dance is very close to her heart and she has spread the energy of Bollywood by teaching dance to all ages. She has been trained in classical Indian dance as well as Bollywood. Rhiannon King

Rhiannon has been teaching mindful movement for over 10 years. Her journey began in martial arts and transitioned into yoga and Pilates. Rhiannon has a deep love for functional and healthy movement, and is always learning and finding the most useful and fruitful method to address individual needs. Her classes are fun and accessible with a focus on alignment and body mechanics. Her goal is two-fold: to help rebalance the body and to empower the person within their body.

She believes a healthy body and a harmonious relationship to the body are essential building blocks for a happy life. When not on her mat, Rhiannon can be found living life with her young daughter and family or riding on her motorcycle.

Ivy Libertad

Ivy was born and raised in the Philippines, and came to Canada in 2010. After completing her Bachelor of Science in Commerce, Ivy now works full-time with the accounting department of a private company. A certified Zumba instructor, Ivy also enjoys running, and has recently discovered an interest in dragon boating. A positive, friendly, and patient person, Ivy believes that being active makes us happier and healthier.

Wendy MacDougall

Wendy MacDougall

Wendy has been instructing Ballet and Jazz at Camosun College since 2010 and is currently teaching the popular Dancer's Body classes. As well, she works as a sessional lecturer at the University of Victoria for the School of Exercise Science, Physical & Health Education.

Wendy has been designing and teaching dance programs for children and adults since 1991. One of her career highlights was her role as the co-founder and Artistic Director of the University of Victoria Dance Showcase from 1994-2011.

Wendy has studied with Jacquelin Sears formerly of the New York City Ballet and Marlisse McCormick from Les Ballet Jazz De Montreal.

Rosemary Mason

Rosemary Mason

After retiring from teaching Biology at Camosun College, I have begun a new career teaching Essentrics/Classical Stretch. I found Classical Stretch at 50 when I was looking for a stretch and strength program that made me feel good. In the last 5 years, I have received the highest level of Essentrics Certification and bring my joy of teaching and love of movement to my classes. This new path is so rewarding as I watch people become stronger, straighter, pain free and get that bounce back in their step.

Christine Remple-Bater

Christine became a certified yoga instructor (RYT-200) and member of the Yoga Alliance following her love for mindful movement. She holds a Bachelor of Physical Education from the University of Alberta and has played multiple sports both competitively and recreationally. Life and work experiences over the past 15 years have brought her personal yoga practice to the forefront as the benefits of keeping balance in life on and off the mat are unparalleled in her busy life. Christine’s sincere love for people comes to her class as she teaches with a compassionate and a gentle approach, meeting participants where they are at. She hopes to share how movement and balance in class can filter into our daily lives. 

Kumi Smith

Kumi Smith

Kumi's been involved in fitness for many years and started teaching back in 2003 while in her home country, Japan. For the last year she has taught hip hop and boot camp classes for Camosun Recreation. Kumi has already become a favorite with her class participants. She brings to her classes great energy, warmth and a true passion for teaching.

Melanie Spencer

Melanie has a background in teaching fitness and dance and has recently completed yoga teacher training to add to her repertoire and her love of movement and body awareness. Through yoga she encourages her students to connect to self through breath work (pranayama), basic asanas, and postures while introducing yoga philosophy in a safe, loving environment.

Stephanie Stone

Stephanie has been involved in teaching and playing sports for many, many years since graduating from the UBC Human Kinetics and Education programs. She enjoys teaching group and individual fitness programs to all ages and abilities. This term she is introducing a new program called Balance and Body Works that will focus on strengthening all of the body's muscles to achieve greater balance and prevent injury.

Joel Swets

Joel Swets

Joel has been professionally involved in fitness for over 12 years. Helping others achieve their fitness goals has motivated him into the exciting field of exercise and health. Joel is a YM-YWCA Certified Strength/ Personal Trainer. He is also a health educational instructor, and Third Age Group Fitness Leader. Joel is a dedicated professional with a track record of exceeding goals and standards. He possesses exceptional interpersonal skills, and works well with diverse individuals. He offers a high level of dependability and enthusiasm, and brings health and fitness to new levels to those around him.

Randal Tonks

RG Tonks has been playing tai chi for over 30 years and has taught at Simon Fraser University and at Camosun College. He is trained in the 108 Wu/Ng/Yang form, 88 San Shou form, Pa Gua, Chan Ssu Chin and Tai Chi Bang. Dr. Tonks also teaches psychology at Camosun College where his interests are in health and culture, and he teaches about the I Ching and self in Chinese thought as well as the elements of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Deborah Ward

Deborah became a provincially certified personal trainer in 2013. She approaches fitness from a different perspective, as a result of having recovered from a sudden serious health issue prior to her fitness endeavours. “Following my experience, I encourage my participants to push their limits!” She has since added Zumba to her fitness disciplines, including the innovative Strong by Zumba®. Deborah is passionate about motivating and inspiring others. “I try to be mindful of my participants' needs and goals.”
