Camosun Chargers vs Quest University College Kermodes

PISE, November 16, 2013

Women’s Game Recap
The Women’s team started today’s matchup between the Camosun Chargers and the Quest University Kermodes with a 1pm start. The women were ready to play and started the game with a quick 24-13 lead after the first quarter. The Chargers worked hard to maintain the lead through the second and third quarters. But in the final quarter, the Kermodes mounted a comeback and were able to slip into the lead. In the struggling last minute of the game, the Camosun Chargers were down by three points. With the clock winding down the ball was passed to Melissa Van Dyk on the baseline who made a three point jump shot at the buzzer tying the score 65-65 sending the game into overtime. The Chargers played excellent defense pulling out the win in OT with a final score of 75-68. Aija Salvador was the top Charger scorer with 20 points in the game.

Men’s Game Recap
The men were up next with a 3pm start, Camosun in white and the Quest University in grey. The Kermodes started out hard and earned themselves a 42-31 lead at the half. The game looked like it was turning around in the third quarter when the Chargers closed the gap on the Kermodes lead to within four points. The Chargers kept the pressure on the Kermodes but ran out of steam losing to the Quest University 83-65. Camosun Chargers point leader was Jarryd Engevik with 20 points.

Upcoming Chargers Action

All the Chargers teams are on the road next weekend. The Charger basketball teams play Island rival Vancouver Island University on Friday November 22 in Nanaimo at VIU. The Chargers volleyball teams travel to North Vancouver on Friday November 22nd and Saturday November 23rd to play the Capilano University Blues.
