Camosun Chargers vs Douglas College Royals

The Douglas College Royals (New Westminster) travelled to the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE) at Camosun College Interurban campus for competition on Saturday.
The Chargers women failed to collect their 11th win of the season with a tough 67-64 loss against the PACWEST’s No. 4 Royals. Third-year guard Aija Salvador (Oak Bay) led Camosun in a big way on Saturday afternoon with 33 points, including an impressive 7-11 from behind the arc. Fourth-year Elyse Matthews (wing) from Stelly’s chipped in with 13 points and 8 rebounds, while third year wing/post Ella Goldschmid chimed in with 10 points and 4 assists. The loss keeps Camosun in second place in the PACWEST standings with a record of 10-4.
The Chargers men fared much better against the scrappy Royals winning 97-72. Camosun was led by third year forward Trevor Scheurmann (Oak Park) with 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Other noteworthy performances included second year guard Evan Woodson with 19 points (including 5 three’s) and second year forward AJ Beaudry (River East Collegiate) with 11 points and 3 assists. With the win, Camosun moves to 4-10 and remains in 6th place in the PACWEST standings.
