Camosun Chargers vs Langara College Falcons

Both Chargers basketball teams were home this week, playing the Langara College Falcons (Vancouver) on Friday night.
The Chargers women collected their 10th win of the season with a solid 68-55 shakedown against the PACWEST’s No. 6 Falcons. Third-year guard Aija Salvador (Oak Bay) led Camosun on Friday night with 18 points and 1 assist. Fourth-year Elyse Matthews (wing) from Stelly’s was close behind with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Third-year wing/point Brianne Larson also scored 15 points in the win. The victory secured Camosun’s spot in second place in the PACWEST standings with a record of 10-3.
The Chargers men didn’t fare as well against CCAA’s top ranked Falcons losing 94-61. Camosun played most of their bench after getting behind early in the game, and the nation’s No. 1 team poured it on. Statistical leaders for the Chargers included third-year forward Trevor Scheurmann (Winnipeg) who posted 8 points and 5 rebounds to go along with 2 assists. Meanwhile, second year shooting guard Evan Woodson (Oak Bay) also played well with 12 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. With the loss, Camosun fell to 3-10, and remained in 6th place in the PACWEST standings.
