Chargers men’s golf team make it two in a row with solid nine-stroke victory at the Camosun Open

The Camosun Chargers Men’s Golf Team is two for two in PACWEST action, after winning the Camosun Open at the Highland Pacific Golf Course, September 21-22.
Making the most of their home-course advantage, the squad shot a two-day team total of 617 to finish nine strokes ahead of the Vancouver Island University Mariners who placed second with 626. Douglas and Langara tied for third with 648.
Camosun congratulates fifth-year Charger Tyler Robertson (BBA – Accounting) who finished as the Men’s Individual winner with a two-day total of 145. Robertson shot 75 in the first round of play and followed up with a 70 stroke finish on Day 2 to claim the tournament low. This is Robertson’s first PACWEST tournament win.
Third-year Sport Management student Alex Cordero placed third with 151 (75, 76). Camosun newcomers Dylan Green (Belmont) and Simon Hassel (Claremont) made their official PACWEST debut with strong finishes in the Top 10. Green (BBA) scored 152 (78, 74) to finish fourth, while Hassel shot a pair of 79’s to finish ninth.
Two Chargers tied for 14th on the men’s leaderboard. Third-year Chargers veteran Cole Yungen (BBA – Marketing) and first-year Nick Crookall, who will be completing his education in Criminal Justice this fall, each closed the tournament with 164.
This week, the Chargers prepare for the 2019 PACWEST Provincial Championships which will be hosted by Douglas College at the University Golf Club in Vancouver, September 27-29.
Winners will advance to the CCAA National Championships hosted by Andre-Laurendale (RSEQ), October 14-18.
