Chargers golfers ace new home course at Highland Pacific
Release date: August 28, 2017
The Camosun College Chargers men’s golf team will open their 2017 golf season with a brand new home at one of Vancouver Island’s most welcoming and scenic championship golf courses—Highland Pacific Golf.
As reigning PACWEST champions, the Chargers have secured back-to-back PACWEST titles (2015 & 2016) and are looking to earn their first-ever three-peat as provincial gold medalists this year.
“Highland Pacific is the perfect facility for a team to train,” comments Highland Pacific General Manager Jeff Palmer. “Our objective is to serve the community and help develop young golfers so this is a great fit for us. We are excited about having a group of dynamic young people learning and practicing at Highland Pacific and acting as ambassadors for our course. I see this as a definite win-win situation.”
The 2017 PACWEST golf season kicks off on the September 16-17 weekend with the University of British Columbia – Okanagan Invitational tournament. Teams in the field will compete in a series of four provincial tournaments with the aim to qualify for the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) National Golf Championship which will be hosted this year by Durham College in Ottawa, ON.
The third tournament in the PACWEST series will be hosted by Camosun College at Highland Pacific on the weekend of September 30–October 1.
The Chargers will be holding open tryouts on Sunday, September 3 and Monday, September 4 at Highland Pacific Golf. Tryouts are open to all Camosun College students. Students are required to register for the qualifier tournament in advance. To register, please contact Chargers Head Coach John Randle (firstname.lastname@example.org).
