Fresh off of hosting the 2017 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship, Camosun College is beginning preparations for its next major event – the 2018 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship, March 7-10.
While the college makes plans to host its second consecutive CCAA championship, Chargers Men’s Volleyball Head Coach Charles Parkinson has been focused on assembling his 2017-18 squad following the program’s three-peat PACWEST gold medal season.
Today, Camosun welcomes four of Coach Parkinson’s newest recruits (three of whom are based in Victoria) who will be suiting up for the Chargers this Fall: Mack Mravnik (Winnipeg, MB), Lorenz Vogel (Claremont), Markeith Thonger (Reynolds) and Dale MacDonell (Pacific Christian).
Victoria native Dale MacDonell has played four seasons of volleyball and is currently a member of VVA’s U18 Black team.
He was a member of the Pacific Christian School Junior Boys’ Volleyball team that finished in 4th place at the Island Championships, and also a middle blocker for the Senior Boys’ Team that won the City and Island Championships two years in a row (2015 & 2016).
Presently standing at 6’6”, the 17 year-old has played both middle and right side during his career both at school and in club volleyball for VVA and is looking forward to enhancing his skills with the Chargers in September of 2017 and beginning his post-secondary studies in Camosun’s Business Administration program.
