Men: 8pm Men: 3pm

The Chargers women collected their third consecutive loss on Saturday against the No. 10 nationally ranked VIU Mariners who walked away with their 12th win of the season, 81-50. With only three weeks in the regular season remaining, Camosun slides to 5-9, a record they currently share with Columbia Bible College and Langara College. Having dropped to #7 in the conference standings, the Chargers will need to make their way back into the Top 6 to earn a berth to the PACWEST Provincial Championships scheduled for Feb. 25-27 in Abbotsford. The team will have that opportunity this weekend as Camosun plays host to the Langara Falcons (#5) and Quest Kermodes (#4) – both of which fell to Camosun in the first half of the season.

A disappointing 96-63 loss to VIU on January 30 puts the Camosun men at 6-8 and in sixth place. This weekend, the Chargers tip off against two tough teams, the #2 Quest Kermodes and #3 Langara Falcons. Camosun will be bringing out their best game to entertain fans on this final home weekend and to outpace their opponents, in particular, Quest who is ranked eighth nationally and considered by many as the best defensive team in the league.

Camosun Chargers in Cranbrook vs College of the Rockies Avalanche

The Chargers women tighten their grip on second place in the PACWEST standings following back-to-back wins against the Capilano University Blues. At 13-7 with a No. 7 CCAA national ranking, Camosun heads to Cranbrook to take on the College of the Rockies (COTR) Avalanche. The Avs, who are #6 in the PACWEST (7-13) will be on the watch for Charger Michelle Zygmunt, the league’s top attacker and teammate Mychaela Roelants who just came off a stellar weekend producing 31 digs and earning PACWEST Athlete of the Week!

In men’s action last weekend, the Chargers registered two straight set wins against the Blues to advance to 17-3 and further cement their position as the PACWEST’s top team. The Chargers are making a steady return to the top of the national rankings, climbing from last week’s No. 5 spot, to No. 3. This weekend, Camosun faces the #5 Avalanche who head into Week 11 of competition 8-12. The Chargers collected a perfect weekend against the Avs in their previous meeting this season and the squad aims to reproduce those results this coming Friday and Saturday.

Over the weekend, the Chargers will be looking to Assistant Coaches Andy Inglis and Garrett Marcellus for leadership as Head Coach Charles Parkinson is scheduled to be inducted to the Volleyball BC Hall of Fame on February 6 in Burnaby. Joining Coach Parkinson and six other inductees is former Chargers women’s volleyball Head Coach Vic Lindal. Vic, also known as ‘Mr. Volleyball’, coached at Camosun from 1997-2001 and will soon be a three-time Hall of Famer; he was previously inducted to the Volleyball Canada Hall of Fame and the BC Sports Hall of Fame.
