It was a gold medal match of epic proportions as the Camosun Chargers repeat as PACWEST champions with a five set victory over the Douglas Royals.

The Chargers dropped the first two sets behind some shaky serving, but battled back to take the third set 25-20 behind some terrific defense from Elion Wong who finished the match with 23 digs.  His defensive work seemed to ignite the Chargers who gained momentum on route to an unbelievable victory.

Savana Walkingbear finished with 15 kills and Haakon Ostrem played his best match of the tournament with 13 kills, a number of blocks and was force at the service line.

The Chargers won the gold behind sets wins of 26-28, 20-25, 25-20, 25-21 and 15-12.

With the victory the Chargers will represent the PACWEST in two weeks at the CCAA National championship hosted by the Royals, who will also play in the tournament.

Following the match Ryan Watters talked with head coach Charles Parkinson. Listen here.
