Aija Salvador named PACWEST Athlete of the Week

February 25, 2014

Aija SalvadorAija Salvador is a third year guard from Victoria BC. In the final league game of the season, the Camosun Chargers played the VIU Mariners in yet another Island Rivalry. With the Mariners on a 20-0 undefeated streak, the odds were against the Chargers. Camosun had other ideas as they gave VIU its first defeat of the season.

Salvador played all 40 minutes to help the Chargers pull off the biggest upset of the season. The win against VIU secured second place and a first-round playoff bye.  Salvador scored 27 points including 7/10 from the 3-point line. She added 2 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.

"Aija hit some big shots Friday night, especially when things started to go off track and we became stagnant at times in the second half.  She stepped up big time and she helped us to pull off an upset to secure second place for us." – Coach Westcott
