Players of the Game:
- Camosun - Josh Coutts
- UFV - Joel Ewald
Camosun’s Player of the Game, libero Josh Coutts(Oak Bay), led the way with an outstanding defensive effort.
Head Coach Charles Parkinson was thrilled with the effort the guys put forth tonight. “ Today, we came to play,” stated Parkinson. “Our setter Derek Twomey was incredible but it was our libero (Coutts) who made amazing saves all night long to allow our hitters to shine! Full measure to UFV. We had no answer for Ewald and Fletcher but in the end we had more depth. I’m so proud of these young men!”
Offensively, Tournament MVP Aleks Saddlemeyer (Parklands) took the lead with 20 kills, one block and two aces. Tournament All-Stars Brent Hall (Lindsey Thurber, Red Deer) and Dan Goodburn (Claremont) added 17 and 16 kills apiece while playing their usual outstanding defence.
The win marks the Chargers’ fourth BCCAA gold medal (and seventh medal finish overall) in 13 appearances at the provincial championships.
