This week’s Men’s Golf BCCAA Athlete of the Week

October 30, 2009

Brett Webster, BCCAA Athlete of the WeekWhile ending the 2008 season outside the Provincial Championship medals, the Camosun Chargers men’s golf team made a strong come-back in 2009 with a 5th Place finish at the CCAA Nationals (the highest finish of all BC teams) and a BCCAA Silver Medal.

The Chargers opened the season with a second-place finish, followed by two straight wins and another second-place finish to complete the season. With only two strokes separating the Gold and Silver Medal teams, it was a tight race to the finish.

First-year Charger Brett Webster (Yale Secondary, Abbotsford) was a crucial force in Camosun’s pursuit of the BCCAA title, penciling in the lowest individual scores of the season for the final two weeks of competition. Webster also holds the lowest single round score of the season which he earned on Day 1 of the TRU Invitational with a remarkable 66-stroke game. With an 11-stroke lead over his closest competitor and a cumulative total of 567 strokes over four tournaments, Brett closes out the year as the 2009 BCCAA Men’s Golf Individual Gold Medalist and the BCCAA Athlete of the Week.
