Physical Resources Department
The Physical Resources Department (PRD) is comprised of:
- Building operations (custodial/waste management)
- Building services (maintenance/grounds/utilities)
- Capital projects and planning (construction/planning)
- College Safety and security (student safety, physical security)
- Administration, operations and customer service
PRD is responsible for all aspects of building, maintaining, cleaning and securing the physical assets of Camosun on two campuses with:
- over 50 buildings
- almost 1 million square feet of infrastructure (> 80,000 square metres)
- 250 acres (113 hectares) of land
PRD also:
- coordinates Camosun’s emergency preparedness program
- supports over 250 special events annually
- manages the environmental/energy program
- maintains office/space/property records and the Campus Plan
- liaises with local municipalities, service providers and neighbours/stakeholders
PRD is a team of over 50. Our staff are on-site weekdays from 6am to midnight along with weekend custodial staff (September through March). Our team is supported by security, alarm and other service contractors to ensure we have all the required capabilities along with 24/7 coverage in regards to safety and operations related calls.

College emergency number 250–370–3075
- First-aid, fire, security/safety, alarms, after hours building repairs. Call the 24-hour dispatch / 7 days a week or activate one of the five emergency blue phones located on-campus.
First-aid
- First-aid attendants are scheduled Mon-Fri at both campuses through the Human Resources department.
- In case of injury at the college, call local 3075 from a college telephone or 250–370–3075 from an outside line (24 hours).
- Your call will reach the college’s monitoring company. Be prepared to answer questions regarding the accident/incident. A First-aid attendant will be dispatched.

College Safety & Security

- PRD maintains a radio dispatch capability on both campuses in order to provide an immediate dispatch and “safety-net” for our College community and visitors.

Lost & Found
- College Safety is responsible for lost and found property. All found property received, if unclaimed, will be retained for a 30 period.
- Found property may be claimed at the Physical Resources office at each campus.
Parking & Transportation
- Parking and Transportation matters are administered by Ancillary Services.
- Parking lot locations, rates and transit information
- Contact PRD/College Safety for matters involving public order, safety, accidents and lot access.
Facility bookings and special events (internal & external bookings)
- PRD supports most facility bookings and rentals after they have been submitted through Facility Rentals/Special Event Bookings/Forms
Walk Safer
A joint Camosun College Student Society and College Safety program
Walk Safer is a personal safety initiative involving campus patrols and escorts during evening hours, September through April, by screened volunteers.
