Renewals

Most library items can be renewed 2 times after the first check out. Check loan periods and limits to find out what can and cannot be renewed. Library items cannot be renewed if a hold has been placed by another person.

Renew your items in person at the library services desk or online using your library account.

Holds

Most library items can have a hold placed. Holds are in queue of when they were placed. Library notices are sent by email. Holds are not permitted on course reserves, headphones, laptops, media and dental kits.

Holds can be placed on items in person at the library services desk or online using your library account.

Returning material

Regular loaned books, journals, and magazines can be returned to either library:

  • drop box located outside of the building-open 24 hours
  • drop box located inside the library-open during library hours:

Course reserve material must be returned:

  • to the library it was borrowed from
  • to the drop-box in the library (Lansdowne has a drop-box in the reserves room)

Headphones, laptops, USB's, calculators, and kits must be returned:

  • in person at the library services desk

Please return materials in the same condition you borrowed them.

Appeals

If you think the library has made an error or if you have a special situation that made it difficult for you to return or renew materials, you may submit an appeal in writing using an appeal form. Visit the library for an appeal form. If you would like to set up a payment plan, speak to the supervisor at either campus.

If you are not satisfied with the decision of the committe, restate your case in a letter addressed to Sybil Harrison, Director of Learning Services.

Borrowing from other libraries

Camosun students and faculty are entitled to a reciprocal service at other BC college and university libraries, upon presentation of a valid Camosun ID. Additional identification may be required for borrowing. Contact the participating library to find out about their borrowing policies.
