Counselling Centre

Career counselling services

Career counselling can help you to identify a career direction or educational program that matches your interests, abilities, work values and preferences. We can also help you research occupations, use labour market information, set career goals and make informed career and life decisions.

Camosun students

As a first step in any career counselling, we recommend that you complete our Career Assessment Guide. PDF Make sure you save the PDF so you can bring the summary pages (pages 14-16) to your counselling appointment. Please note that the Career Assessment Guide summary pages will not self-populate if you are using Internet Explorer browser.

Once you have completed the Career Assessment Guide, there are a number of services available to help with your career exploration process. These include:

Career exploration workshops

  • Facilitated by a professional counsellor, these two-session workshops include guided self-exploration, the administration of a personality or interest inventory and an introduction to the Career Cruising website. Career planning workshops run each year from May to August. Workshop cost is $27 for students.

Career exploration workshops

Facilitated by a professional counsellor, these two-session workshops include guided self-exploration, the administration of a personality or interest inventory and an introduction to the Career Cruising website. Career planning workshops run each year from May to August.

In the self-exploration process we will explore your skills, values and personality. This can help clarify your interests, skills and approach to work. We will use the Myers-Briggs Type Inventory or the Strong Interest Inventory assessment tools to identify possible career options.

We will then explore the Career Cruising program.
