"After some career search and job hunt missteps, I decided to see a career coach at Camosun, a valuable and free service provided for current and past students of the college. Irene Wallace in Student and Alumni Employment Services was a great help. I see those meetings with Irene as a turning point in my search for a new and interesting career direction."
Nathan, alumnus working in the financial sector
Draw Winner Dayna Clark
Dayna Clarke is our March ballot winner. She is currently a University Transfer student in Camosun’s Applied Chemistry and Biotechnology Program. She booked a 1on1 appointment with our Career Services to learn about coop opportunities and to discuss strategies to narrow down her search toward a path that is more career-specific. Dayna said, "We discussed ways in which I could incorporate skills gained in past employment as well as potential job opportunities that merge my scientific pursuits with my past as a graphic designer or educational assistant. [Facilitator] Paula was quick to find solutions and come up with new ideas that helped us explore new options together. She has clearly built a diverse and valuable network of contacts, and is a wonderful resource for students to build bridges and get a head start on introducing themselves to the workforce." Dayna shared that the specifics for her career goal have yet to be determined but after her undergrad degree, she intends to pursue farther education. "I have been exploring my options under the umbrella of biomedical sciences and feel most drawn to careers in medical research".
