"After some career search and job hunt missteps, I decided to see a career coach at Camosun, a valuable and free service provided for current and past students of the college. Irene Wallace in Student and Alumni Employment Services was a great help. I see those meetings with Irene as a turning point in my search for a new and interesting career direction."

Draw Winner Maia Sampson
Maia Sampson is a 4th year student in the Bachelor's of Business Administration Degree with a specialization in Marketing and is planning to graduate in spring of 2019. She took advantage of our Career Services by attending a workshop about LinkedIn and another one about branding/networking. She is also a co-op student who completed both her work terms in Walt Disney World Resort in their International College program but she always looks to attend as many events and speakers as possible that are hosted by the Co-op & Career Services at Camosun College. "The career services have complimented my classroom learning by giving me hands-on experience that I can directly transfer into my future career. As I am currently in my last semester, I feel confident with the skills I have learned in class, learned through attending career seminars as mentioned and applied in the real world during my co-op and am therefore ready to start my career." Maia’s goal is to break into tourism and destination marketing and to have an emphasis on sustainability. She says, "I would love to have a career that will take me around the world and allow me to work for and consult with tourism and hospitality businesses about how they can incorporate environmental solutions into their daily operations while continuing to benefit their customers, employees, and their bottom line."
Draw Winner Jodi El-Boualaye
Our Career Services ballot draw winner for December is Jodi El-Boualaye. She is attending Camosun College in the University Transfer Program. She will be seeking a career in social work. Taking advance of our Career Services, Jodi attended one of our Career Seminars delivered on ‘how to use LinkedIn to your advantage’. In response to the question asking how useful the session was, she said, "It was useful because it is a good networking tool for making career connections for the future……social networks are a way to be able to ask people questions…" Jodi also searched our one-on-one career coaching from Tricia to find out what organizations might have entry level positions to allow her to gain experience as a person who is seeking a career in social work.
