Form updates

It is the enrolling parent’s responsibility to update all information on the registration forms so that all information is always current and accurate. In an emergency, it slows down quick action if the staff cannot locate the parent, doctor or emergency back up person. Students and faculty are responsible to update their timetable each semester as well. Please fill out an Information Change form.

Absences

Parents are expected to notify the Centre staff in advance, as much as possible, if their child is going to be away. Please use the communication book, available in the centre. If unable to notify the staff in advance, please call the centre or the Child Care office.

Arrival

We ask that your child arrive by no later than 9:30 a.m. When you arrive in the morning, please help your child get settled before you leave. Parents are asked to note relevant information in the DAY BOOK. Before leaving, please make sure that your child knows you are going and a staff member is aware that your child has arrived. Note: Children may only be dropped off by a responsible adult.

Pick Up

Authorized pick up persons are asked to pick up the child by 4:50 p.m. When you arrive, you are required to supervise your child(ren) while you are on the premises as the staff are responsible for the remaining children.Children will only be released to an authorized person listed on the registration form. In case of an emergency or an unforeseen circumstance, written authorization must be provided before your child will be released to anyone not listed on the registration form. If not received, the child will not be released. When picking up your child, please make sure that a staff member is aware that your child is leaving. Note: Children may only picked up by a responsible adult.

Late Pick Up

If a child is not picked up by 4:50 p.m. and the authorized pick up person or enrolling parent has not called, the Centre will try to contact the family and then someone from the authorized pick up list for that child. If all efforts are unsuccessful, the staff person in charge will call the Ministry for Children and Families. The staff person in charge will also try to leave a message for the family and /or with an authorized person. A note will be put on the front door once everyone has left the Centre. If a late pick up occurs more than once, the enrolling parent will be required to pay a late fee of $10.00 for the first five minutes and $10.00 for each ten minute increment thereafter, payable immediately, or the following day, at the latest. If the late fee is not paid promptly, or there is another late pick up, notice may be given and termination of services may occur. You are considered a late pick up if you have not arrived by 4:50 p.m. and have not left Child Care Services by 5:00 p.m.

Conflict resolution

We encourage you to discuss any questions or concerns about our program or our procedures with the staff, including your Sr. Educator. If a conflict arises, the goal is to resolve differences of opinion and find solutions that everyone can accept. We are committed to providing a caring and supportive environment for our children and families. If a problem continues, a meeting can be arranged between families, staff and the Manager.

Smoking

Child Care Services is a smoke free environment. Smoking is prohibited inside the Child Care centers, in the yards, or within 100 meters of any entrance.

Parking

Parking out front of Child Care Services at both campuses is limited. Parking is to be used only for drop-off, pick-up and short-term visits to the Centres. If you are not present in the Child Care Centre and your vehicle is parked out front, you will receive a ticket. A second infraction will result in your vehicle being towed.

Media

Photographs and/or video footage will be taken by staff in the center to be used in various ways within our program. Any other usage of this material or requests for media footage will require additional permission from you as well as approval of the Manager of Child Care Services.

Nutritious lunches and snacks

Parents are responsible for providing nutritious snacks and lunches in accordance with the Canada Food Guide and the child’s dietary needs. An emergency supply of food is available in each center to supplement children if necessary.

Clothing and Supplies

Parents are expected to provide cloths, necessary sleeping supplies, sunscreen, diapers, helmets, and seasonally appropriate indoor/outdoor attire. Baby wipes will be supplied by the centers.

Parent visits

Parents are always welcome. Come join your child for lunch or pop in and see what activities they are up to!

While we maintain an open door policy, to make your visits to the Centre compatible with the program, it is important to make arrangements with the Senior Educator. Some Centres may be in the midst of naptime, or on field trips, so suitable visiting times may vary.
