Dragons Den prize increased to $1000 tuition credit

Do you have an idea, thought, suggestion to make Camosun a better place. Apply to pitch your ideas in the Dragons Den at the Student Employment Festival, September 28th, Lansdowne Campus. Winner selected by Dragons! Prize just increased to $1000 tuition credit (based on a minimum of 5 Dragons Den entries). Application deadline extended to Tuesday September 27th at 3:00pm.

Photo contest time is here again! This contest gives co-op and internship students the opportunity to showcase their work term experience and win great prizes. Eligible students must have registered in a co-op or internship work term between October 1, 2010 and August 31, 2011 and photographs must pertain to a work term within this time period.

Congratulations to Dusty Silvester (Environmental Technology) and Katherine Williams (Computer Systems Technology) – two of seven students recognized nationally for their co-op achievements. Co-op is proud to see this prestigious award won by a Camosun student for the third consecutive year. Co-op students get better jobs and earn more

Co-op students find better work, earn more, study finds: A 3-phase study from the University of Waterloo finds that co-op students earn higher salaries and get more prestigious jobs following graduation compared to their non co-op counterparts. Drawing data from Statistics Canada's Youth in Transition Survey, the study reports that women are more likely to be in co-op at the college level, and men at the university level. Those in university co-op programs tend towards studies in engineering, applied and physical sciences, and mathematics, while college co-op students tend to express an interest in the humanities and the fine and applied arts.
