Important notice about payments
June 2012: Due to a reduction in cashier support we can accept payment for test fees directly at the Assessment Centre counter only by exact change, cheque, MasterCard/Visa (only handwritten receipts provided). We do not accept debit cards. Thank you!
External Exams
The Assessment Centre provides an invigilation service for entrance exams to other institutions, mid-term and final exams for distance education courses, and other tests that may require an independent invigilator. Times are arranged individually. Cost is $35 per test (taxes included). This service is available for pen and paper tests, computer based and online testing.

GED (General Education Development)
The Ministry of Education administers GED testing at Camosun College 7 times a year. The tests are given over a Friday evening, Saturday morning and afternoon.
The Assessment Centre has the test schedule and can refer you to the Ministry website for the application form. The application must be sent in to the Ministry of Education (not Camosun College) 4 weeks before the scheduled test date. Cost of the GED test is $60.

LPI (Language Proficiency Index)
Many colleges and universities in B.C. accept LPI exam results for entry, including Camosun College and University of Victoria. The LPI Office at the University of British Columbia administers the LPI exam. The exam is given throughout the year at various locations in Victoria including Camosun College.
The Assessment Centre has the current schedule. Schedule and directions for registering online. Registration for the test is done through the LPI office at UBC (not Camosun). Cost of the LPI is $109. Information about study material is also available at the website.

Test day room allocations are printed on your test admission ticket. Note that parking rates do apply on Saturdays.
Remember
Be on time. Bring your admission ticket (complete with photo properly labelled and affixed); bring valid photo ID. Bring your own pens, pencils and erasers. Cell phones must be turned off for the duration of the exam and placed at the front of the test room. If you do not want to be parted from your phone, then please don’t bring it to the test room!
GMAT (Graduate Management Admission Test)
This exam, sponsored by GMAC (Graduate Management Admission Council) is a tool for predicting academic performance in the core courses of a graduate management program. It is a standardized test designed to measure basic verbal, mathematical, and analytical writing skills that have been developed over a long period of time. It is used worldwide as an admission tool by hundreds of degree granting institutions that offer graduate-level business and management programs.
As an authorized Pearson Vue Select Site, Camosun hosts this exam weekly in the Assessment Centre but cannot register or schedule students directly. Check the following websites for links to more information including test schedules and the registration process:
MCAT (Medical College Admission Test)
This exam, sponsored by the American Association of Medical Colleges, is a standardized, computer-based, multiple-choice examination designed to assess the examinee's problem solving, critical thinking, writing skills, and knowledge of science concepts and principles prerequisite to the study of medicine. Scores are reported in Verbal Reasoning, Physical Sciences, Writing Sample, and Biological Sciences. Medical colleges consider MCAT exam scores as part of their admission process.
The MCAT exam is administered multiple times from late January through early September. Check the website below for test schedules. Through PROMETRIC, Camosun is a certified test centre for the MCAT but be sure to look specifically for the Camosun test dates if you intend to test at this location. IELTS (International English Testing System)
This exam is administered through the IELTS Test Centre at Global Village (GV) Victoria. The exam is offered 1-2 times per month at the IELTS Test Centre at 1290 Broad Street in Victoria, BC. View the test schedule and/or download an application form for the test. Applications are processed through the IELTS Test Centre only. The current cost for tests in Victoria is $285†, payable by cash, cheque, money order (verify at IELTS Victoria website); the fee is paid to the IELTS Centre at Global Village Victoria.
In place of a “C+” in English 12, Camosun accepts an overall International English Language Testing System IELTS score of 6.5 with a minimum of 6.5 in Reading, 6 in Writing, 5.5 in Listening and 5.5 in Speaking. Pearson VUE Professional Exams
The Assessment Centre now offers 30 or more computer-based professional exams distributed through Pearson VUE. We are a certified professional test centre but do not register students for Pearson exams. To see if your professional or certification exam might be offered at Camosun, go to the Pearson VUE site or look for links to Pearson at the sponsor organization’s site. Hundreds of computer based exams are offered through Pearson and although more exams are added annually to the suite we host, Camosun does not offer all of them. Generally speaking, Pearson exams are offered two days a week.
