Camosun College’s campuses are OPEN, Wednesday, Feb. 5

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 6:30 a.m. — Camosun’s campuses are OPEN today. Classes and services are scheduled to run as planned.

Grounds crew have been working at Lansdowne and Interurban to spread salt and sand on parking lots, roadways and main walkways as conditions are icy. Please allow extra time when commuting, dress warmly and stay on cleared paths.

Award description

This award is for any English upgrading student who began literacy studies in a community program and completed a provincial level English course at Camosun. The student must demonstrate academic excellence, the ability to communicate effectively, and provide evidence of successful strategies for overcoming barriers to learning. 

Victoria's Orca Books has been a publisher of high quality, award-winning books for children and teens and reluctant readers of all ages. They established this award in 2012 to support literacy at Camosun College.

Criteria

Student must:

  • have been enrolled in an Access Program or an Access course (Academic Level - select Upgrading & Preparatory) for at least one semester during May 1 to April 30.
  • demonstrate success in literacy (70% (B-) grade in an English course or higher).
  • have overcome adversity due to their ethnicity, age, ancestry, sexual orientation, religion, abilities, gender identity, or socioeconomic status.
