Camosun College’s campuses are OPEN, Wednesday, Feb. 5

Wednesday, Feb. 5, 6:30 a.m. — Camosun’s campuses are OPEN today. Classes and services are scheduled to run as planned.

Grounds crew have been working at Lansdowne and Interurban to spread salt and sand on parking lots, roadways and main walkways as conditions are icy. Please allow extra time when commuting, dress warmly and stay on cleared paths.

Award description

The B.C. First Nations Health Authority (FNHA) is the first province-wide health authority of its kind in Canada. The FNHA is responsible for planning, management, service delivery and funding of health programs, in partnership with First Nations communities in B.C.

Island Health provides health care and support services to more than 765,000 people on Vancouver Island, the Islands in the Salish Sea and the Johnstone Strait, and the mainland communities north of Powell River.

You must:

  • be currently registered as a student at Camosun College in one of the following programs: Unit Clerk, Health Care Assistant, Community Mental Health Worker, Licensed Practical Nurse, Registered Nurse, Medical Radiography, Medical Laboratory Assistant, Interprofessional Mental Health & Addictions
  • have Indigenous (First Nations, Métis, Inuit, or Native American) ancestry
  • have a GPA of 4.0 or equivalent
  • submit a self-written letter attesting to your goals and dreams about working as a health care professional.
  • complete the application form

First consideration will be given to Indigenous students from Vancouver Island, second from within B.C. and third within Canada. Preference will be given to Indigenous students from Vancouver Island. If none apply, then Indigenous students from across B.C. and then Canada will be considered. You will be asked to attend an awards ceremony. Financial need will be strongly taken into consideration.

Please note: If the deadline occurs on a weekend, applications will be accepted until 4pm on the Monday.
