Steve is a professional engineer (P. Eng.) who graduated from the Camosun college Mechanical Technology program and then completed the Engineering Bridge program to UVic. This led to a bachelor's degree and a Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria. His graduate and post-graduate research involved using x-ray diffraction and SEM microscopy to study various piezoelectric and electrostrictive ceramic materials; as well as, stresses in thin film coatings on metallic substrates. Steve’s past experiences as a professional industrial welder compliment his engineering knowledge of various materials. At the college, he instructs courses in fluids, hydraulics, pneumatics, machine design, and strength of materials. In his spare time, he enjoys playing ice hockey.
