Russ has been an instructor in the Mechanical Engineering Technology Department at Camosun since 2004. He typically teaches courses in strength of materials, machine design, and vibrations. Prior to teaching, Russ worked as an engineering technologist in the pulp and paper industry, as well as at the Institute for Ocean Technology in St. John's Newfoundland.
Russ is a graduate of the University of Victoria, having obtained a B.Eng. in 2003 and a M.A.Sc. degree in 2006. Russ also completed a diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology at the Okanagan University College, and subsequently enrolled in the bridge transfer program at Camosun. Most recently, his research has focused on a relatively new computational method called smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH), and Russ is a published author in the Journal of Numerical Heat Transfer, the International Journal of Engineering Science, and the International Journal of Numerical Methods of Engineering. In his spare time, he enjoys games of strategy, watching movies, and spending time with his wife and two children.
