Early Learning and Care

School of Health and Human Services

Born and raised in the traditional territories of the Tupi Guarani speaking People, also known as São Paulo – Brazil, Tatiane is grateful to be a visitor to territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ Peoples. Tatiane holds a Bachelor's degree in Pedagogy, and a Masters of Arts in Educational Studies from the University of Victoria. Her research celebrates children’s voices and stories and challenges monolingual and colonial assumptions in early childhood settings. Her work is also grounded in anti-racist and inclusive approaches.

As an early childhood educator with nearly 15 years of experience in Infant and Toddler as well as Preschool settings, Tatiane has always prioritized, legitimized, and respected what children do, say, and think about their experiences and daily lives. She is passionate about collaborating with students and the larger community on the ongoing need to listen to and welcome children’s voices towards a more democratic world and early childhood learning and care. She believes pedagogical documentation is a powerful tool to support children's voices and learning, and foster living and curriculums grounded in care.

Tatiane also strives to create a safe environment for students to be curious, ask, share, have their voices heard, and feel welcome to engage during classes.
