Diagnostic Medical Sonography (SONO)

School of Health and Human Services

Stephan is an instructor in the Sonography program at Camosun College. He was born in Winnipeg and grew up in Victoria. On his spare time, he enjoys running, cycling, and spending time with his wife and daughter.

In the early 2000’s, Stephan pursued a career in medical radiography. Soon after completing radiography, Stephan went back to school to complete his medical imaging training in general, cardiac, and vascular ultrasound. Since then, he’s completed an undergraduate degree in technology management and a master’s degree in business administration.

Stephan started his imaging career with Island Health in 2006. In 2010, Stephan took on a position as an applications specialist working for General Electric. His role was to provide customer education, trouble shooting and supporting implementation of new technology in ultrasound departments across western Canada. Over time, his territory grew and with this, he had the opportunity to work in hospitals as far east as the Burin Peninsula Healthcare Center in Newfoundland and as far north as Whitehorse General Hospital in the Yukon. This served as a great opportunity for Stephan to see the beautiful country we live in, learn the intricacies of ultrasound and gain experience teaching adults. In 2017, Stephan came back to the health authority fulltime and has worked as a sonographer, clinical instructor, supervisor, and program leader.

Stephan is thrilled to be faculty at Camosun college. Stephan considers himself a life-long learner and hopes to share his enthusiasm, passion for ultrasound and experience with his students.
